Cox Named A Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality

01/27/2020

Do the right thing. Always. That’s what we strive to do here at Cox, and for the second year in a row, we’re being recognized for it.

Cox received a perfect score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and has been named a 2020 “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Americans. This is the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality.

Cox has a longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, and we recognize the valuable contributions that the LGBTQ community offers to our business, community and workplace. Since our company’s founding more than 120 years ago, we’ve fostered an environment of respect, putting people first and making bold decisions.

“Diversity and inclusion is a strategic business enabler,” said CEI’s Assistant Vice President Diversity and Inclusion Tiffanie McDonald. “When we’re open-minded and inclusive, it’s not only good for business but for our society as a whole.”

HRC President Alphonso David said that the Corporate Equality Index praised companies like Cox for their efforts to adopt more inclusive policies, practices and benefits.

“These companies know that protecting their LGBTQ employees and customers from discrimination is not just the right thing to do — it is also the best business decision,” said David. “In addition, many of these leaders are also advocating for the LGBTQ community and equality under the law in the public square.”

Pushing for More
Cox’s diversity and inclusion efforts remain best-in-class. Cox offers enhanced health benefits to include coverage for medically necessary healthcare services that transgender people may need. We strive to lead by example and encourage our people to support each other. Additionally, Cox has LGBTQ employee resource groups focused on developing strategies that promote inclusion. The company also supports numerous inclusion and equality efforts, including the HRC Coalition for Equality and Georgia Prospers.
