34 by 2034 Act to Impact Tour Launches

03/08/2022

In its most far-reaching community service effort to date, Cox Enterprises has launched a tour that will feature one-day events in 10 cities. At each stop, Cox employees will provide volunteer service and the company will make a major donation to a charity in each city. Communities on the 34 by 2034 Act to Impact tour include Atlanta; Phoenix.; Las Vegas,.; Orange County, Calif.; Oklahoma City, New Orleans.; Dallas-Fort Worth; Burlington, Vt; Hampton Road, Va; and Orlando, Fla. Cox Enterprises’ major operating subsidiaries include Cox Communications and Cox Automotive.

The roadshow, estimated to span eight months, is the most visible element of the company’s new social goal called “34 by 34.”

“Cox’s Purpose is to build a better future for the next generation,” said Maury Wolfe, AVP of corporate responsibility at Cox Enterprises. “With our goal to empower 34 million people to live more prosperous lives by 2034, we have an extraordinary opportunity to take meaningful action in the communities where we live and work, expand our community service partnerships and translate our ambition into measurable progress.”

The 34 by 34 social goal aims to advance initiatives that create resilient and equitable communities. Cox is focusing on six key areas it has the tools, knowledge and know-how to make an impact: technology access, access to lifelong education, employment skills, social equity, environmental sustainability and good health.

Throughout the tour, Cox will partner with organizations including Boys & Girls Club of America, Girls, Inc. and Inside the Outdoors Foundation. Employees will have the opportunity to build student-focused STEAM kits used to learn about solar panels, STEAM circuitry, hydroponics or computer programming, which will be donated to partner nonprofits. Cox will also complete community accessibility and beautification projects, including installing raised garden beds, mural painting, tree planting or providing Cox Hotspots for fast, wireless on-the-go internet connectivity.

The program will feature a customized Airstream trailer which doubles as a digital recording studio to capture stories from Cox employees, benefiting organizations, and the people they serve. Their stories will then be included on ‘Journey to 34 by 34’, an interactive website launching in 2022, as well as in a multimedia display in the company’s corporate museum, known as the Discovery Center, at the Atlanta headquarters.
