Cox Employees Help Build Playground
12/04/2019
Research shows that giving kids time and space to play helps them to develop stronger thinking skills — particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Cox volunteers helped provide that for some metro Atlanta school children by rolling up their sleeves for a KaBOOM! playground build on Nov. 15.

Cox volunteers helped provide that for some metro Atlanta school children by rolling up their sleeves for a KaBOOM! playground build on Nov. 15.
Building a Better Playground
More than 180 volunteers, half of whom were Cox employees, gathered at Redan Elementary School in Lithonia, Ga. to build a new playground in a single day. Undeterred by wet, cold conditions, they also constructed two planter benches and planter boxes, a GaGa pit and hacienda gardens.
Inside the school, volunteers painted four restrooms, a classroom and some trim in the school hallways.
What’s KaBOOM?
KaBOOM! is a national nonprofit dedicated to bringing balanced and active play into the daily lives of all kids, particularly those growing up in poverty in America. This was Cox’s fifth-annual build with KaBOOM! More than 3,300 children benefit annually from the five projects. The event was a great example of how Cox is building a better future for the next generation.
