Kristen Weathersby is vice president of litigation for Cox Enterprises, a leading communications, media and automotive services company. She is responsible for the Litigation Center of Excellence (COE), reports directly to Cox Enterprises’ general counsel and works closely with the general counsel at each of Cox’s divisions. Under Weathersby’s leadership, the COE is responsible for high-level litigation for all Cox entities, as well as litigation oversight, training, policy setting and standardization initiatives.
Weathersby joined Cox Communications, the company’s broadband communications and entertainment subsidiary, in 2000. While at Cox Communications, she served as senior counsel, assistant general counsel and vice president and chief litigation officer. She oversaw all litigation for Cox Communications and its intellectual property efforts, including copyright, trademark, patent prosecution and all intellectual property litigation. She also created a cross-functional team that developed and implemented Cox Communications’ e-discovery process, saving the company millions of dollars in outside counsel spend.
Prior to Cox, she litigated at various firms for almost ten years.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina in both history and economics and business administration where she was a member of Senior Order. After working in the Trust Department at Trust Company Bank, Weathersby attended Georgia State University School of Law and served on the Student Government and the Moot Court Board. She is an active member of the Georgia Bar, Association of Corporate Counsel and Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT). She is a graduate of WICT’s Betsy Magness leadership program.
